In 2019, The Nature Conservancy partnered with Paulding County, GA Department of Natural Resources, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and Georgia Power to replace this 4-cell box culvert with a free-standing bridge. The project will benefit Federally listed Cherokee darter and Etowah darter, as well as over 40 other species of native fish in Raccoon Creek. Fish movement at the road-creek crossing is being monitored by Kennesaw State University masters’ student Will Commins.
